There finished one more tournament among veterans, being held at the same time as the Women’s World Chess Championship. Today they have summed up the results in Atrium Palace Hotel, and after that the winners were awarded prizes and presents at the closing ceremony.

The tournament was played by Swiss system: 7 rounds with 15 minutes time control. We should say that there were a lot of challengers for this tournament. Among them – such famous local players as Tamara Vorotintseva, Irina Kabanova, Lyudmila Reutova, Albina Gileva, Viktor Strekalovskiy, Alexander Glyanez, Boris Fradkin, Vladimir Kaliberda. The winners of the tournament - a reigning Women’s Senior World Champion, GM Lyudmila Saununa and a famous coach, the member of the Sverdlovsk region team –( winner of Russian team championship 1969) Alexander Lysenko - managed to defend their titles. At the closing ceremony the organizers of the tournament – the principal of the School №17 for Children and Youth Anatoly Adabash and the member of the Board of the Russian Chess Federation, the Chairman of the Qualification Committee Evgeniy Eletskiy said a lot of cordial words and wishes.
