Today March 18 there started the 4th round of the Women’s World Chess Championship, on the other hand the Children Chess Tournament, being held at the same time, has finished. The following 4 pairs of challengers started their fight for the champion’s crown: Alisa Galliamova (Russia) – Nino Khurtsidze (Georgia), Svetlana Matveeva (Russia) – Marie Sebag (France), Ekaterina Kovalevskaya (Russia) – Xu Yuhua (China) and Maya Chibrdanidze (Georgia) – Viktoria Cmilyte (Lithuania). Meanwhile, when the participants of the championship have started the most serious part of the tournament, their younger colleagues from Yekaterinburg have already finished it. The Children Chess tournament of Sverdlovsk region is over. This contest was dedicated to the World Championship, which is being held on the Ural land for the first time. The winners of the tournament Ekaterina Rassohina and Grigory Gusarov were awarded honorable prizes and certificates. The ceremonial procedure took place at the conference-hall of Atrium Palace Hotel, close by the main playing hall of the World Championship. The Deputy Head of the Agency on Physical culture, Sports and Tourism of Sverdlovsk Region Andrey Salov , the principal of the sports school ¹17 for children and youngsters Anatoly Adabash and the representative of the executive directorate of the World Chess Championship Tatiana Gluhova congratulated young chess players.





Children showed great interest in the advice of the chief arbiter of the championship Andrzei Fillipowicz, who congratulated the winners in his usual manner. “I wish you, - said maestro Fillipowicz to young talents, - to make more checks and one of them will become mate.
